Course Description


Wilderness First Responder (WFR) is the definitive course in medical training for outdoor educators, guides, SAR team members, and others who work or play in remote areas. The curriculum is comprehensive and practical, including all of the essential principles and skills required to assess and manage medical problems in isolated and extreme environments. The 5-day format is for individuals and sponsors with less time available for on-site training and requires 25 hours of pre-course preparation.

Students must register at least 2 weeks before the course date. All students must complete all pre-course work prior to arrival on course.

Room and Board:


Bring groceries to prepare your own meals in the equipped kitchen (stove, fridge, microwave, kettle, pots, pans, cutlery). 

MHO Adventure will supply coffee and tea. 

Grocery stores, restaurants, cafès, pubs, and eateries are located in Guelph, about a 20 minute drive away.


Accommodations Option A – Stay-on site in the comfortable shared accommodations for $35 per night.  

Enjoy the peace, tranquility, and history, of the Crieff Hills Retreat & Conference Centre staying in one of the historic homes located on the more than 200 acre site. With cozy common areas, fireplaces, and easy access 6+ km of nature / hiking trails, this will not only be a learning experiences, but a nice retreat as well.

Toronto (Nathan Phillips Square) – 80km – Approx. 1 hour

Hamilton – 30 km – 25 minutes

Kitchener / Waterloo – 35km – 30 minutes

Guelph – 23km – 20 minutes
