Boreal River Rescue
Wilderness First Responder (WFR) is the definitive course in medical training for outdoor educators, guides, SAR team members, and others who work or play in remote areas. The curriculum is comprehensive and practical, including all of the essential principles and skills required to assess and manage medical problems in isolated and extreme environments. The 5-day format is for individuals and sponsors with less time available for on-site training and requires 25 hours of pre-course preparation.

This course includes:
rafting the famous Pacuare River!
Lodging is at a riverside eco-camp.
Return transport from San Jose.
Sunday – Meet and get picked-up in San Jose. Drive 2 hours through beautiful countryside. Paddle fun rapids by raft. Stop for sidehikes to waterfalls and swimming holes on your way to ‘El Nido Del Tigre’ (camp 1)
Monday to Wednesday – WFR training
Thursday – Day 4 WFR training - Raft non-stop whitewater through deep gorges and primary rainforest. Stop for simulations and training on your way to ‘Finca Pacuarito’ (camp 2).
Friday – Day 5 WFR training
Saturday – Return to San Jose
This program is for anybody aged 18 and up who is physically active. You don't need any medical or river experience. The course is taught in English.
Room and Board:
With great fresh food, spacious lounging areas with hammocks, comfy chairs and tables, platform tents, bathrooms, and showers - all well maintained, sustainably built, and cared for by fantastic local staff - the camps make for a very special course location and home. Experience tropical nature up close.
